Learning goals
I am learning to…
Apply reading strategies so we can make meaning from a text;
Read different forms of texts;
Identify the elements of a variety of texts;
Use evidence to support my ideas;
Apply your knowledge of the research process.

Today, you will conduct research on your novels to help you get ready to blog about them. First, decide on your blogging topic by reviewing the topics page. Then, go to Goodreads and search for your novel. Read at least three reviews that represent a range of views:
1. Poorly-rated
2. Highly rated
3. Rated in the middle

One research skill you need to have is properly collecting information. There are three methods: quoting, paraphrasing, summarizing. We will review them by reading  “So That Nobody Has To Go To School If They Don’t Want To” .
A second skill you need is note-making. Take a few minutes to review the process and some suggestions for how you might choose to go about developing this skill.
Make a note from each review based on your blogging topic. Remember to include:
1. The source information in APA style;
2. Your thinking in the note;
3. At least one quote;
4. At least one paraphrase;
5. At least one summary.
When you blog, I would like you to include at least two references from your sources (secondary research) and two from your novel (primary research).
